    Acid etching kitchen knives ?

Also, no I don't think it is dumb to etch SS, I find it VERY creative. If I can figure out how to do it I could show some pictures of what I have done so far or maybe the easiest way is by e mail (kurt51@bellsouth.net) if you etch deep enough it is actually a 3d pattern you can feel as well as see.

    Acid etching kitchen knives ?

60 percent ferric chloride 40 percent vinegar. That's what I was taught and also told by Alabama Damascus , but I usually fudge just a little and put a little more Ferric chloride than that. I'm guessing maybe 70/30 but that's just my subjective decision. I like to etch deep and dark . I...

    Harness testers

I saw a portable Wilson RC harness tester on one of Tracy Mickely's heat treat videos. When I searched to find it I believe I found it to be a M51 or M52 Wilson model. But when I try to find where to buy one and the price I have to fill out a questionnaire to get a quote and retail sources...

Mirror finish hollow grind The really nice mirror finishes that I have achieved involve much hand rubbing and then buffing. I do only hollow grinds (that's how I was taught in 2007) although I am trying some flat grinds lately. My question---- Has anyone seen or made some kind of "sanding...

hand sanding??? whats the big deal?

Hi, I have always gotten more oohs and ahs from my mirror finish blades but I do really like the lengthwise grain satin finish that I see on some really high quality blades . Sometimes I kind of give in and do the scotchbrite belt thing but I personally feel like I scrimped out a little...
