    Need a couple sheaths

Wow! I really like those two, especially the bottom one, a little bit of a harpoon look to it. Just my opinion, but I think a Randall style pouch would complement those real nice. Something along this line, but in black. The retention is the Randall style sheath is very positive as...

Hand stich vs Machine Pros and Cons?

There are a few makers out there that claim to have hand stitched sheaths that are actually done on a machine, but they say so because their hands are on the sheath at the time of stitching. Using a BOSS doesn't denote hand stitching either, but a different method. Hand stitching involves no...

    List of recommended leather suppliers

Thank you Ed for the explanation. The reason I got curious was I have handled leather that was a chrome/vegetable blend and the properties were much different than anything else, especially a true veggie tanned. The cheaper tannages tend to leave tannins in the leather to an extent and can lead...

    List of recommended leather suppliers

I'd be really interested in seeing more evidence of the "chrome before veggie" tanning process that Tandy uses. I have seen the leather using this process, but it doesn't look anything like what Tandy produces. Is there anything in writing that supports this claim? Using Tandy/The Leather...

    List of recommended leather suppliers

Mconner, dont feel alone with enjoying having local suppliers. I visit Tandy and the Leather Factory regularly and get most all my supplies from them. The leather has gotten so much better in the last couple of years its a non issue. Now with the new suppliers, the European leather is second to...

First boot sheath (for my first dagger & the one I needed black thread for)

Looks nice :) The only thing I'd have done is set the knife deeper in the sheath, a little more security. Otherwise you've done very well.

    strap cutter?

The length on the Schick blades doesnt matter to me, what sells them is just that, I can get three times the edge. That was the point he was making in the book as well. Much better than having only one serviceable edge. The huge benefit of the draw gauge that Paul mentioned is the blade that...

    strap cutter?

I used to use Schick injector blades, but they have vanished off the shelves in the last few years. I see them crop up at Tandy on occasion, once I saw a 1000 brick of them and didn't take advantage, I regret that very much now. I tend to get more cuts off the purpose built blades they sell...
