    Chopping steel.

Saw it when you published it. Impressive. I test all my choppers in a similar method. When I get one that doesn't meet test standard, it's back to the drawing board! Forge on and keep sharp!

Sounds Great! I'm sure you will do well. Wish we had a tech school in my area that offered it. Tech here equals computer classes.

building a forge; questions, scavaging, etc.

I use a 9" length forge for my general work that's made out of two fire bricks. Due to the size hole I have I can forge up to 3" and as long as I want with it. It being open as a pass through allows this. As for heating evenly a longer blade I just keep it moving back and forth to keep it hot...

    Parks 50# quench

Well that's not too bad from Maxim. As I said the shipping and hazardous materials fees to my area was the main increase in my pricing. I believe part of it was also due to a residential delivery in my case. Most of the freight shipping people automatically tack on extra for it. I'm looking at...

    Thinning leather dye for wood

I use denatured alcohol to thin it for both wood and leather. I generally mix dye to it 1:6. Then apply multiple coats letting it dry between coats till I get the shade I want.

    Parks 50# quench

What you're your mainly paying for is the increase in shipping hazardous materials fees. I got some 3 years ago shipped for $120 to me. 6 months ago it was $155. The oil was $5 more than the first time.

    Jimping Help

A quick photo that will give you a idea of how I do it. Pre HT. I use a Bruce Bump file guide to mark my starting point and secure the blade in the vise. My checkering file is a 20 lpi.

    welding a stick tang HELP

I also would not do it. I just make my tang longer and with a file round it off, then thread the actual tang. If the tang requires a bend I do that before threading and HT.

    KITH idea

Anthony the one on Face Book was Craig Collier's idea. Nathan and I just agreed to it based on members interest. Due to medical reasons I haven't been in the shop since last October. As an admin on the group I setup the event that Craig is running. As I stated there I more than likely will...
