I scan my blade before putting the handle on. I pull the scan into Lightburn as a picture, trace the image and delete the original which gives me an outline. I burn that on MDF which gives me an outline of where the blade positions. I use tape to hold the blade position while setting focus.

This is my way of life also. Over the years there has been very few items from HF that have found their way into my shop. I have bought castors and the little segmented razor knives though.

Those with a 20 watt or smaller, are you coating your blade to etch?

Is there a difference between marking aluminum and steel or stainless? I tried to mark aluminum with my 20 watt both raw and painted black. Once at 100% power- 150mm sec, and 100% power and 50 mm sec. took the paint off but no etch into the metal. Help!

Better than no gas.

Straight CO2 works for mig. It leaves more splatter and the welds don't lay as flat but works just fine and is less money than the mix. I use both depending on the application.
