Looking for Tips Recipes on Cold Rust Bluing

I have found that if you use cold blues, heat the piece up until it's pretty warm to the touch. The acid in the blue works much better on a warm item. Also use a clean cotton swab and make even strokes lengthwise on the item being blued.

Well, I sure hope all you rascals survived the weekend and IG's hot peppers. I had only one day off last week, last Sunday. I'm getting too dang old for all this overtime at work. My shop has been closed up for the whole week, been too tired to get anything else done except the dang day...

How to make wood handles shiny and smooth?

Is that a boiled linseed oil? I've used boiled linseed oil with decent results. I now use only stabilized wood, taking all the guesswork and chance results with finishes on wood.

    Wassup for the weekend????

Thanks for the kind words, Larry! Micah receives 3 hours of therapy and is doing pretty good. That's great Linda is doing well. It is really great she gets her therapy at home instead of having the painful trip for her therapy. I think she will recover faster at home. She should be back to...

    Question about Buckeye Burl...

WSSI has always done me great service. I also buy stabilized burl from Gene Martin and am more than happy doing business with him. I don't know for sure, but he may stabilize the wood himself. As many of you probably know, Gene is a fine knife maker, too.

    Plasma cutter

Phil Willson, a great maker and knife writer, started using CPM steel years ago and we can thank him for our current usage of the CPM steels. One time when we were talking, he told me about his first times using CPM420V. The only way he could purchase the steel was by buying big thick slabs...

How to do Deer antler scales?

I have a solution for flat antler scales that works great for me. I hot glue the handle piece of antler onto a square piece of wood and rip the antler on my tablesaw. Using a few SPOTS of glue, the antler is easily twisted off the pilot wood. You just need enough glue to safely hold the antler...
