Thanks brother. There's definitely a big difference between using a 1x30 and 2x72. But a couple blades and I should be getting cleaner lines again.

Chris Reese Sebanza folder and M. Prater Painted Pony pocket knives

I sent my umnum in October and got it back around Christmas and it was real sharp. But who knows maybe people were complaining. Sorry that the experience has been so poor for you.

Bro... Words can't explain the difference between this set up and the 1x30 I was using. Definitely learning how to grind all over again. But its worth it. So much better.

Chris Reese Sebanza folder and M. Prater Painted Pony pocket knives

Sorry to hear about your sebenza not living up to your expectations. I have an startac umnumzaan. And its a solid well built knife. Expensive. I guess what makes the Crk folders worth the money is the tolerances in which they are made. They literally have tighter tolerances than the...

I did use tap magic. And my taps were not of the highest quality which may have lent to the issue. Either way I love the way the GIB turned out. I'm very glad I went this route.

Could be. But like I said I am inexperienced with tapping so I could have been the problem. I adapted and overcame.

I won't say its anything to do with your kit. Because truthfully I am not sure if the problems I had were user error or not. I had a bear of a time getting things tapped. In fact the only hole I didn't give up on was for the adjustment screw for the tracking wheel. Every other whole I tried...

Its a polar bear forge grinder in a box 2.0 it is a kit. I had planned to fan my own but the cost to time ratio didn't make sense compared to Jamie's offering. I think I paid 290 with shipping. Doesn't include wheels or a motor.

Lots of questions about blade material! Please forgive me!

I'm about a year deep. And trust me its an investment to get started even for less than stellar equipment. For starting out and home heat treat you're probably not going to be using a stainless steel un less your willing to have someone else do your heat treat. I won't tell you what to do I'll...
