    Hamon help

Hey guys, I've been making knives with hamons for years but some of it is still a mystery to me. I hoping maybe Kevin can help out with a scientific approach to the issues I am having. When I first started making knives with hamons I used 1095 or w2 with rutlands black furnace cement, quenched...

    Multibar pale white line issue..

Hey guys, I'm working on a multi bar mosaic pattern and after the forge weld I am getting this pale white line between the welds. I did not use flux, as I have heard that causes issues like this. I am wondering if its just at the ends of the billet or if it goes all the way through, I have not...

    Bandsaw Blade TPI

Hey guys, so I recently got a cheap 4x6 horizontal bandsaw from harbor freight. First time using it I was cutting some 1.5 inch thick steel to make a squaring die for my press. Walked away for a bit and came back to the blade stuck and the motor fried. Not a big deal as I had an old grizzly 4x6...

    Widenening twist damascus billet?

This message is directed to Ed, but instead of talking to him privately I'd rather put it in here in case it helps someone else out or maybe someone other than Ed has some input. I'm going to be making a couple of twisted w damascus billets this weekend and my issue is that both blades I'm going...

So with the recent interest in San Mai I decided to make a few billets this weekend. I made 3 different billets. 416ss/1095 core, 416ss/1075 core and a203e/1075 core. Having surgery tomorrow

Hey fellow knifedogs! For the past 5 months I have been dealing with severe nerve pain, numbness and weakness in my left arm, and large knots in my back. I haven't been as active on the forum as I usually am and would like to be. My knifemaking has taken a large hit as well, finding the...

    GoFundMe for Jim Hrisoulas

Hey guys, I don't know Jim personally, but I hate to see someone with as much experience as him be in a rough spot. Long story short, he moved to Florida from NV and thought he had enough money to get his shop finished and he ran out of money. So he's stuck with no source of income. I've read a...

    Making electrolyte

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a situation. I have to have 3 knives marked in the next couple of days but I noticed that my bottle of electrolyte spilled and is bone dry. This one is W2, with a bit of hamon, carbon fiber pins and scales. First time using lemon juice to help bring out the hamon after etching, think it worked good! Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
