    Wax Removal

Good day all. I made a knife from O1 (60 hrc) steel, sanded it to 400 grit and did a few Ferric dunks. It came out the way I wanted so I protected it with Johnson's paste wax while I decided on scales. Having handled it during the laying around / decision process, I managed to lightly scratch...

    Warming FC

Hey All. I’m looking for some ideas for warming my Ferric Chloride. It is in a 2 inch PVC pipe in a stand. My shop is uninsulated and to heat and keep the shop warm is,,, well, overly expensive. I like working in the cold... I’m looking for a safe and quick method. TIA for all ideas. Scott

    Cleaning surface conditioning belts

Any ideas on how to clean surface conditioning belts? The debris leaves smearing on steel and the belt is real new. Air blast doesn't remove the material and I'm apprehensive to use a piece of steel to rough it up. Scott

    Anyone with a moisture meter.

Hey all. I have a slew of thin wood that I will be using for scale material. It comes from all over the place, wood stores, shows, the forest, scraps from projects, you get the idea. I want to insure that the moisture is low enough to use most of it without stabilizing. Almost all of it is...

    Disc flattening technique

Hello all. I have a 9 inch disc sander, variable speed and I am looking for some reasons and answers to flattening scale material, etc. on it. I seems that I always have a non-flat outcome using it, in that the front and rear of the material always has more taken off it. Not flat. I've tried...

    Help Id'ing Damascus

Good day All. Went to the Blade Show and had a wonderfully overwhelming time. Did my best to support and "economically invest" in many vendor's goods. Purchased supplies and materials, most sans receipts, no problem, except one. I bought some Damascus, one billet I suspect is stainless. My...
