Hi Bruce, While I was at Blade I was lucky enough to see the matched set of cut and shoots that you made I have to say I was totally blown away! I've seen your work on line and in magazines but in person they just become alive. WOW !WOW! WOW!
Thanks Bruce, l will give it a go after Blade, I am planning to do a large fixed blade do you think if I make the final billet before cutting the notches a rectangle instead of square will it mess up the pattern, l'm concerned the spacing of the scallops will be to far apart if I cut into a...
This is my press, 5hp / 230 volt, 2 stage pump, 5" ram. the top half unbolts so it's easy to move. The cylinder you are standing on looks like it has no way to connect the rod to your press.

Hi Bruce, how do you clean and prep your dyed stag before you use it, i bought some from Culpepper at the Blade show and forgot to ask them. It is very messy, dye residue gets all over, any problems with glue up.
Thanks! Scott

Bruce, Just wanted to thank you for this and all of the other WIP'S they have helped advance my skills so much, It's like having a tutor on call.
Have you shot it for real yet?
Scott
That's right Bruce, Tom used a small hand cranked pasta rolling machine to roll out the clay for the first billet then used a small rolling pin to draw out, It's best to work in a cool location so the clay won't get to soft. Most crafts store will have all the supplys for this clay work.

Thanks guys, I dont think it's redwood it had a strong fruity/spicey smell when i cut it. should have marked it better when i bought it years ago.
