1st knife in 15 years almost done!

This is the first knife I have made in 15 years! It feels GREAT to be back into a hobby where I have something to show for my efforts!

The folks on here have really shown me some new and GOOD ways to make knives that I had never seen before (been lurking for many months prior to joining). Keep in mind that this is the first in a while, but I want SERIOUS feedback, I'm proud, but not too proud to listen to others that are more experienced.

This critter was a LOT of firsts for me... I figured I had a lot of stuff to experiment with and decided to go for it. I firmly believe in what my signature says. I learned a LOT with this knife...

Specifics:
Blade material: old Nicholson file
Blade length: 3" x 1 1/16" x ~5/32"
Handle length: 3 3/4"
The handle is as follows; butt ugly scale pieces I got in a trade, copper, leather, wood from a table leg that is over 50 years old, and whitetail deer antler from a deer I harvested in 1980 something.

The firsts that occurred:
First full blade grind
First multi-piece hidden tang handle
First time using leather in a handle
First knife to post on Knife Dogs! :D
First time to FORGET to grease the blade prior to epoxy! (got some detail work to do)

The knife IS NOT complete! The blade was taken to 500 prior to HT and then taken to 500 before being wrapped in tape for the handle installation. Looks like a few scratches jumped in regardless! But, I can clean those up and plan to satin finish the blade.

Here is where I need a bit of assistance... I have ALWAYS been a wood guy when it comes to handles.

What would be a good way to go about finishing ALL of these components together? CA, sand to high grit and then buff, oil, etc...?

I started out making a skinner to give to my uncle from this file. The skinner is still sitting on the bench awaiting the sanding to remove the decarb from HT. Not sure why, but this little blade really got to me and I had to take it to final ASAP...

I've been a bit long winded, here are the pics... The handle is ONLY sanded to around 500 and I have NOT touched the blade for final yet...

Oh, just in case any of you notice... huh1

The tip is a bit messed up... Seems that someone who was performing QC on the knife dropped it... It landed on the tip of course! :( I can fix it...

Thanks!

Been a while, but I'm getting back into the swing!

Going to try and finish this critter tomorrow. Once complete is it ok to post in the custom section or any other area? Don't want to get into trouble for double posts. The next pics will be with better light I hope...

I finished the knife last night and realized that I don't have a camera! The wife left on a cruise with her mother and took the good one AND the cheapy!

Looks like pics will come on Monday when I can bring mine home from work.

Love being back into this! Have a chef knife and a skinner in the works now. With the wife gone for a week I can seriously get some shop time in!
