A number of years ago, I had a similar discussion with Burt Foster at the blade show. He handed me a knife and asked me to guess the level of finish. I said 400 or maybe even 600. He said no, it’s 220 grit His point was that even at a “rough” finished like a 220, Adelaide could be made to look good if the finish was properly done.
