All of my experience with AEB-L has been with thin stock, thus, I've heat treated prior to grinding. I've got a couple of blanks on my bench in .136" stock, so there's a greater amount of stock to remove, so I'm considering doing a portion of the grind before HT. If I do a near-complete grind, a significant portion of the blade won't contact the quench plates at all, and I'm concerned that the overall blade cooling at different rates will cause problems.
Would I be better off just doing my HT first, like I have, or take advantage of the soft stock and do a partial grind first?
Thanks
