Alloy Banding??

Is what I am seeing in the cladding of the steel alloy banding? I've heard about this, but never really saw a pic of it and I am not sure what I am seeing?? It is a Tojiro ITK 240mm Kiritsuke gyuto (white #2 core steel, iron cladding with Kurouchi finish originally) that I completely reground to A30 Trizact Gator, Cork belt and ferric chloride acid etched. The patterning is visible even without the acid etching and looks pretty cool to me!!

I dunno nuthin' about that steel you got there, but it really looks like highly refined wrought iron. I noticed you called it "iron cladding," so that kinda makes sense.

Whatever it is...it's reeeeal purty.
