From the tiny photo posted, it does look like about the same machine except for all the automation stuff. Still a NICE machine! Have fun with your new toy..... "if" you're able to buy it thru the auction.
Steven, $500 is a steal for that grinder - wow. "IF" I were a "serious" knife maker who made several knives a week, I'd jump on that for sure - but for the very few knives I make, I "get by" with a grinding disk with my milling machine. Not great, but works ok for evening up a blank to a couple of thou anyway. I can even do a distal taper with it.
Fred - that thing looks like new! While I'm sure you're hoping for a good price at auction, it's GOT to go for a LOTS more than Steven's at $500. Let us know how the deal works out.
Just as an up date on this Surface Grinder , it was the most expensive item at the auction , $4000 , way out of my price range but a fun dream to chase. I did pick up a nice little K.O.Lee 6x12 for $375 off Craig's List , needs a little work but so do I.
