Blade coating/protectant

Looks very interesting, sounds like you're volunteering to be our guinea pig, right? I'd like to see someone treat one side of a carbon steel blade and leave the other as you normally do and do some corrosion tests for comparison. Price?

The company charges $1 per blade to coat it for you. I have an inquiry on price per bottle. Looks like the dyna-tek place is located her in KC to so I will be the guinea pig. I had the same thing in mind with the Carbon steel test.

does this help resist rust too? this might be a dumb question since nothing sticks to it. how often would you have to apply it?

It claims it does. Ambrosi brothers post on Facebook says it last months. I have an email in to the company for more information.

I'm thinking if it's good it would work for the carbon steel Damascus folder blades and bolsters I make in my shop ! Yes, please let us know what you think of it.

Here is the response I got back from them.

Justin:

We do not have our final packaging done yet, HOWEVER, I am putting together some 1/2 oz. bottles for Ambrosi and will deliver them by next Wednesday. @This small bottle will easily coat 50 knives. @Cost at Ambrosi will be $20. @One heck of a deal.

Stop by there next week and grab a bottle or two. @I am sure you will be impressed with the non-stick, anti-drag, easy-clean and corrosion protection offered by this incredible coating.

Thanks again for your interest!!

I will get down there next week and snag a bottle and give it a try. I looked on there website and they make coatings for guns and fishing reels and have a "coming soon cutlery" tab so it looks like they just have not got everything ready to sell it commercially yet.

....to be continued

This might make a good WIP. I know you probably don't have tons of free time with a newborn in the house, but a WIP of some corrosion tests and product performance would be awesome. Let me know I could help in any way.
