Boss's new Kirinite

Morning All,

Figured I'd let y'all know about Boss's new Kirinite grip material. It looked interesting, but I was hesitant to try it since it looked kinda pimpy and was afraid it would have a plasticky feel. Went ahead and tried some anyway in Desert Camo, Patriot and Lava Flow.

I have to say I'm kinda diggin this stuff. It seemed to grind a little slower than G10, but it cuts great and made way less dust. Best of all it polishes super easy.

So on with some pics...

Here's the Patriot and the Lava Flow

The topside of the Desert Camo. I did it with white liners

Still have some more sanding to do but wanted to show the difference between polishing them and doing a satin finish on them.

All on all I actually like this stuff a good bit. Especially the Desert Camo and the Lava Flow. The Lava Flow is nice since its a true red and black versus the purple goodness that is red/black G10.

Oh yeah, the Desert Camo ones also have black G10 bolsters, just in case you didn't notice.

I had the same initial feelings about Kirinite but once it is finished and polished up I always feel pretty good about it.

The other sizes have landed in New York and are on the way here. We hope to have all 6 colors in: 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 3/8" thicknesses soon.
We also have several kinds of antique alternate ivory on the way with the same shipment....

Is the alternative ivory a micarta base or something else? I won't/Can't use Micarta anymore cause of the formaldehyde.

it is not micarta based is all that I know. the resin is proprietary and the supplier isn't sharing. I'll see if i can scrounge up an MSDS...
