Bronze Fighter

I was asked to use antique bronze on this one instead of my usual iron. I still like the wrought iron the best but this was a nice change for me. Its got a forged L-6 saw steel blade that is 13 1/2". It to was antiqued. Sambar crown stag with bronze fittings make up the rest. It also comes with the 2 ply sheath. 19" overall.

Thanks for the positive replies. The blade on this knife was a second chance blade. After the first heat treat and grinding I figured I just couldn't save it with the grinder so I ended up going back in the forge and fixing things and getting it re heat treated. It turned out close to perfect the second time.

Here's a look at what's on the bench.

Ray, I think this may be my favorite knife I've seen from you so far, and that is saying a lot as I've admired your work for some time now. Everything comes together beautifully.

Ray, can you give us some hints about how you antiqued the bronze? I liked the first one, but I like the second one even more!

I bought a bottle of "liver of sulfur" that is used to patina bronze. I found out what works best for me is to heat up the fittings with a torch just before they turn color and then apply a really watered down mix of the liver of sulfur. One drop in maybe a teaspoon of water. I'd apply the mixture 3 different time. Then steel wool. This is something I have just started doing so I hope to learn more as I go.

Here's a little information: http://www.dickblick.com/products/l...+Blick+Catalog&CID=Finishing.com+Inc.#reviews
