cactus juice resin

just won cactus juice stabilizing resin, thanks US knifemaker and turntex. My question is has anyone stabilized pinecone with cactus juice? also is it best that the pinecone be closed or open? and/or the pinecone split down the middle before hand or cut afterwards?

I don't have any experience with pinecones personally but my Dad has done a few for turning custom pens. They are some of my favorite ones that he makes. He has always collected the closed pinecones for his purposes. Hope that helps!
