Calling all Puukko makers...

I am going to make a few puukkos. What is the traditional shape for the handle? I know its not round I am thinking more like an upside down teardrop shape?

Lots are just an oval with the thickest part in the center, and the butt being slightly larger than the guard.

Teardrop shape seems to be common, too, usually with a more shaped handle.

But there aren't any rules about what makes a puukko a puukko. At least not any that two or more people agree on.

Thanks guys for the help. I guess what I am asking is more about the cross-section of the handle than the profile. The profile seems to be open for interpretation but from most pictures the cross-section seems to be oval as Todd said. I will start there.
