Can H/T foil be reused?

Just getting started H/Ting SS and was wondering if H/T foil can be reused. Thought I would ask before I ruin a blade.

Only if your brave! It will get small pin holes in it when it cools from the high temp stuff.

I'll reuse it sometimes when tempering springs, but never after hardening.

Why do you need to use foil to temper? I did't think it got hot enough for that.
