Can you tell what type of Burl this is?????

A friend gave me a few pieces of this, he didn't know what type of wood it came from. It's hard but pretty!!

Good eye Rudy. Martin, that is not a burl, its got figure but does not have any of the grain patterns common to burl.
 
Wow, not burl!!! Learn some thing every time I log on!!! Is it expensive? The two tone color, does the the lighter color work well with the darker color when sanded and shaped into blanks? I have a smaller piece that is solid dark in color that I am making into scales right now for a small knife I made. I LOVE the look of it and would like to get more of it down the road.

Not that expensive, Compared to Ironwood etc.. About $3-$8 a set of scales at most supple houses, It may have gone up some? Been a few since I bought any and with all the B.S. about woods in the news lately.
