Does anyone have heat treat info on this steel? I was given some and I'm making some neck knives out of it but all I can find on the Carpenter site is the general info. Carpenters site is a pain it the but to find anything on.

I don't know the heat treatment info on BD1, but the old blueprints at work that call for it get 4140 instead. I never have seen any BD1 but the 4140 doesn't heat treat enough for a blade.

0.90 C, 0.60 Mn, 0.37 Si, 15.75 Cr, 0.30 Mo, 0.10 V

it doesn't have anything to do with 4140 as best I can tell.

I have to wait until tomorrow, he's out of the office until the 5th.

I got the info for the 204P of the site (this is some weird stuff to HT) so I can't understand why the BD1 isn't on there.
