Chainsaw Chain Damascus

Today I tried out my new little press to see if I could make damascus. I've used a hammer before to do it, but never a press. We're a Stihl chainsaw dealer where I work so, I've got chains up the kazoo. All in all I'm pretty happy, still lots of practicing to do, but here's a short video I took of it.

Thanks for watching everyone, and as always, comments and critisizm are welcome!!

I'm liking that! Must feel good to be able to take materials like that and form your own blade. I hope to be able to try it some day.

Thanks everyone!!! The blade is out in the oven tempering right now, hoping to have an update tonight, I've got the handle rough fit, we'll see how the rest of the day goes. It's looking like it's going to have a nice pattern.

Here's part 2 of the video.

And here's a pic of the completed knife. The handle is bocote and the pins are copper. The teeth on the back are kinda by accident, I was grinding a clip point on the blade and while grinding it, it kinda looked like a saw tooth, since the blade is from a chainsaw chain, I thought it was fitting, so I ground another tooth :)
