cone loc

I used to grind all my knives on a 2"x10" cone loc. Untill last year when it came open upon startup and tore itself apart. Was pretty scary for sure. I was glad that I had to stand off to the side of it to turn it on. It did the job ok but after a couple knives it had me wishing for a belt grinder. The main reason for that was that it takes shop roll and I could only ever find aluminum oxide abrasive shop roll.
When the wheel destroyed itself i tried searching for a replacement and could only find a 6" version for jewellers...

I've gotten a few unfavorable reports myself about those things over the years.

For under $200.00 you can get one of the Craftsman 2 x 48" belt grinders. While they won't win any awards, you can at least get quality belts and save up for a real 2 x 72" machine as you learn to make knives.

thanks guys think I'll stick with my belt grinder. Used 10 or 12 inch long ago. Guess I try to find a 10 or 12inch, for my old Blade master grinder. Thanks again.
