Controlling dust and grit while grinding.

I judge the cleanliness by the depth of the grinding dust on the floor and the number of sandpaper scraps on tables and the floor. Some of those scraps are still useable like my old sanding belts.......

I'll be another to admit to my shop never being clean. The funny thing is, IF I do a thorough cleaning and put everything away where I think it belongs, I can never find anything. If I leave it a mess, everything is right where I used it last, not that I can remember where that was.

But...if a floor is too clean, how do you re-trace your steps to find the thing you laid down and now can't remember where you had it last?

That is exactly how I track the little gnome in my shop that moves everything I am working on and with. But that one old 1/2 used piece of sandpaper is everywhere I look...
