Copper , Elk Antler and some 1095

backtines

Here's one I finished up yesterday. Customer wanted one of my primitive looking knives with a sheath that would show the handle. The sheath is a little different than what Im used to making, I didn't know after some wear and tear how the knife would stay in the sheath so I made a loop to hold it in place. ( There's two layers of 3oz leather for the back panel , the holes for the loop only go through the front panel only and the rivets that hold the belt loop in place go through the back panel only and not the front.
Elk antler scales , aged copper wrap , brass pins , 1095 steel. OL 8.5"

Thanks for looking and critique always welcome.

Mikey,
Now that way I'm talking about!!! So how far is this out of your comfort zone? That would be way out of mine! Was it fun or more of a tense kinda build? Looks great and I love the copper and the blade finish, very nice! Rex

Hey guys , thanks for the nice words..

Rex, The knife was all good , Ive made knives like this before, but the sheath took more time than expected. I first used 8/9 oz material all around and thought it came out too thick. So I remade the rear panels with two pieces 3 oz material and I think it came out pretty good.. Learned a lot for the next one I make.

How cool is this. The guy that I made this knife for happened to show this knife to a friend and the friend loved it so much , he just ordered 10 similar to this one for his company workers. I just thought I would share that with you guys.

WOW....
The whole package came together nicely Mike. It looks like a well cared for user, only new.
