Crystal coat

Have any of you ever tried a product called Crystal Coat on knife handles? This is supposed to be used on furniture as a finish coat and also on pens made from different kinds of wood. I had a fellow tell me he really likes it and the way it holds up.

I tried it and didn't like it. It contains volatiles and they evaporate very fast leaving hard waxy clumps which are difficult to hand buff. One of the guys on this forum loves the stuff which is why I tried it. He sometimes makes boxes and uses a power buffer to blend the wax and I think that works. I even tried my buffer on the handles but it just smeared. I have tried several waxes and ended up using Classic Wax from the Boss. It works great, is easy to apply and is long lasting.

I agree with levernut it is hard to work with since it is a friction finish, mainly used for bowls and turnings. I just use teak oil now. It is hard to rub a small handle with enough friction to get it to shine
