Discoloration question

Ok, so I spent a little time tonight profiling my first blade. I've seen everybody use these angle grinders (which I have) but I also have a chop saw. Perfect to make the initial cut of my stock, or so I thought.

I guess it got hot and discolored on the end before I went to my trusty angle grinder.

My question is will it stay discolored or will it come out at some point? I have to think the heat treat is much hotter than that, and that scale comes off. But, of course, I could be wrong.

What say ye? Am I doomed to a discolored end?!

Don't worry about it. It's just a surface patina caused by oxidation. It will go away when you heat treat the blade or when you sand the surface. One caution, don't let that happen after you heat treat the blade or you will have to re-heat treat because it's is caused by getting the steel too hot. It's not bad on the tang because you want it soft for drilling but it's very bad on the edge, where it's most likely to occure because of the thin steel.
