It has a blade forged from 20 mm round stock of 120 WV4 (2516), shibuishi bolsters and pins and sheephorn for the handle slabs.
overall length is 8 inches.

You know for shure the term "Katzbalger", the edged weapon that bears that name.
In the name You have the term "balg" also, which is ancient German and means "to brawl" (balgen), so it seems to translate "cat's brawl" ...my English guessing.
The German term "Balg"is actually for the skin of a bird that still remain the feathers or the body of a bird itself...or to skin a bird, "abbalgen".
But in South Germany, children are often called "Balg" and sometimes it is used in street language for "body"...but thats already kind of old school.Today kids use different terms and language... as we all know.:34:It is very multi layered and actually hard to translate....but I guess it could be translated as "iron kid".
