I've been building knives for 11 years and never could get interested in most carbon steels. Started out grinding files, but quickly went to stainless. However I'd been looking at A-2 and some of the newer ones out for a while now, and when of my English customers expressed an interest, I built one for him in A-2 and one for me(also now sold).
The first is what I call my Allegheny Trail Knife. It's the first design I ever did and I've been amazed at how popular it's become when I brought it back a few months ago. Much like the Kephart knife without the bottom "guard", and useful in the same ways. Has a flatground/convexed edged 4 inch blade out of 3/32 inch A-2; HT by Paul Bos. Weighs 4.3 oz. Handle is stabilized claro walnut/copper pins.
Second is my Coffin Handled Hunter. Same grind/steel with "heat stabilized" curly maple and copper trim. Blade is 4 inches(tip to plunge) and it weighs 5.2 oz.
