Folder Shield Bummer

I've been EDC'ing a Queen Mountain Man lockback for over a year and a half, and love it. :7: It looks good, has nice size and heft, walks talks and locks real solid, and the D2 blade takes and KEEPS a very good edge. I use it for everything from opening mail to food prep to cutting my steak and hardly ever have to touch it up. But tonight I'm crying in my beer...

A few hours ago I pulled it from the belt pouch I got for it and realized the handsome round "Queen" shield was missing.:what!: I don't know how/why it fell out or even when. Doesn't hurt the knife's usefulness any, but it sure looks stupid!

Sooo... anyone have any sources for cool-looking shields of some sort so I can replace it? A Queen one would be nice of course but anything that fits would be OK. I know, I could make a simple disk out of n/s or stainless and have my initials engraved on it or something, but good Lord I already have a stack of projects as tall as I am.

James,
I would just call Queen and tell them it fell out and is lost and you would like another one.
My Boker Trapper did the same thing a couple-4 months back and it got to where I could stand it anymore. So I called Boker to try to buy a new shield and they WOULD NOT sell me one, but they did send me one for FREE:thumbup:

Lots to choose from there Dave! But I'm being lazy and just want something round that will fit the existing inlet. I'll try to find a number for Queen.

EDIT: I got through to a nice lady at Ontario/Queen and she'll have one sent to me. *whew*

I was going to make both of those suggestions. I'm surprised that the nice lady didn't ask you to send the knife in and they would install it. You are probably better off that they will just send it to you and you can use some really good glue on it. Not super glue. Gorilla or epoxy. If you use Gorilla don't forget to dampen it first.

I liked the thought of stamping your initials or useing Damascus.

Yeah, I'd rather re-install it myself, look what happened to the last one they put in! :D I'm not knocking Queen at all, overall the knife is very well-made and I really do use it every single day. I do have a bottle of Gorilla glue (the kind you dampen) that I've never opened, maybe now will be a good time to try it out.

I've always liked escutcheons on fixed blades as well, I should get one or two of Dave's templates and start practicing that one of these days. I recall Tracy put up a nice tutorial on using them here. Damascus with the client's initials would be awesome!
