Forced Patina Camper

Greetings Dogs,

Here's the result of a little experimenting with forced patinas.
I used a combination of mustard and cold bluing to make this
one look a little older than it really is.

It's 6" blade of 1095 with a Black Walnut handle. Hope you like it.

Nice one...I could see that one in my arsenal...and isnt that what its all about?
Was there anything special you did when applying your techniques that helped you acheive this effect or did you just approach it randomly and hope for the best?

Nothing too special really Eric. I started with yellow mustard and
used my fingertip to apply a uniform pattern of dots trying to get
some type of damascus-like pattern. Did that twice then applied
the bluing. I did find that the thinner the mustard was applied the
more it printed the steel. Not what I expected but next time I'll
know. I think by leaving the the edge area uncoated you could
get a nice hamon type of effect.

Thanks Keith. I kinda liked it too and I think it gives a small
measure of protection against surface rust and spotting.
