J jkf96a Well-Known Member Jan 6, 2014 #26 Several reasons, Roger. Mostly, just to show that I can do it Building the frame allows you to apply finishes to the guard and frame that you couldn't otherwise do with a regular tang. It's purely artistic, no real value in terms of performance.
