G Flex Epoxy

I'm picking up more epoxy and am wondering which would be best, multiple small bottles (8 oz) or one large set (32 oz)? How is the shelf life on it? I've used the smaller bottles but they don't last me long enough to really test their longevity. A larger bottle would probably be around the shop about 6 months or so. Any ideas? Thanks fellas.

Regards,
Mike

I bought the big G-Flex bottles and wish I'd gotten the small instead. Seems to still be working fine but I've got 2/3 of the large bottles left after 6 months. Hope that helps.

It will depend on how many knives you make. I got an 8 oz G-Flex kit in February, done 9 knives, still have about a third left. This stuff holds well and a little goes a long way for me.

I've never used it before, but I expect how it is stored is a concern as to its longevity. In my circumstance, I work out of my garage which is uninsulated. I move all such items indoors when the weather becomes colder. Fluxuating tempertures cant be good.

Thanks Laurence, I did read it before hand but have noticed that real world experience tends to differ, even if slightly, from their specs.

On another forum it was suggested that it can be put into smaller bottles and the remainder can be put in a cool dry place away from light and have it hold for a while.

Thanks guys.

Yep! There is always the real world! Buy a larger set and see if you get a year out of your real world?

Keeping it away from light extreme heat or cold is always a good idea. I wouldn't put it in smaller bottles because you will expose the stuff to oxygen & moisture. Keep it sealed in the original container.

I do fine with the smaller bottles of G-Flex and at the few cents I would probably save, I mostly likely wouldn't buy the bigger bottles unless I was making my own Micarta or became a production shop with much higher volume. Great stuff!
