Harbor Freight Portaband

I dont have a vise yet!!!! lol

I just used a c clamp, I clamped it inside after I took of the cover, to the edge of my bench. I then just used a piece of wood i cut like a shim under the handle and used pipe hanging tape(metal with a bunch of holes in it) and screwed the handle down tight.

Hey 'Big',
If I read that last post correctly, you are using that 'widowmaker' with the guard off. PLEASE don't do this. I've been in or near the building industry for over 30 years and other than an errant nail gun, the port-a-band is a very dangerous tool. You can't make all them custom orders with no thumbs, plus you have to ask your wife to pick your nose and that can be a distraction in church.

regards,
Steve

You know, I've got to agree with Steven on this one, even though I toss my covers when I get a new saw, it's not very safe. I've had a couple blades brake and it could have easily gone bad. Also without the cover there are a couple new areas where you can cut yourself or get loose clothing caught. You can set up the cover so it's being held on with 2 screws so you can pop it off faster. You don't want to pick up bad habits this early in the game.

Thanks for the heads up guys!!! I am going to figure a better way to secure it so I can keep the cover on!!

Get a piece of 1 inch by 1/8 inch mild steel. Remove the handle and drill 2 holes in the mild steel to match the holes where the handle bolts go. Attach the mid steel with the handle bolts. Leave the mild steel long enough to drill 2 holes on the other end and attach it to a 2X4 standing straight up at one end of yor work bench. Set it up at the right height for you and you have a custom mounted band saw for cheap! This is real easy to do!
