I had a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

If I plan to put a finish, DLC, Duracote, ect. on a blade How does this work at the edge? Do you cover the edge to keep the coating off or do you coat the blade then sharpen the edge which will remove the coating from the edge?

Lanyard hole liners. Where can I find these? I am assuming they are press in, as in it is a straight tube and you press it to get the flare on the end that holds it in place.

Can these lanyard hole liners also be used in place of pins, corby's, and screws to secure the scales to the blade?

Thanks.

OK
I use powder coating on blades with great success. It cheap and durable. Yes you do the whole blade. You will remove the coating to expose the edge when you do your final edge.
I use 1/4 Stainless Steel tubing as Lanyard Liner. You can find it at any knife supply house. Yes you can use it in place of pins. You can flair the tubing. You are not wanting a press fit. You want a a slip fit. To tight will cause bone to crack. It will cause your scale to come loose when you press through. Use your Glue to hold your pins. I just glue my in and lite tap to flair it just a bit. They are very strong as pins.

Good Luck

Thanks for the help.

I had thought about powdercoating but I can't do it and the place here has a $100.00 minimum. I think I am going to give Duracote a try as I have some left over from a different project.

1/4" ss tubing for the lanyard hole...got it.

I wonder if I took a swagging tool placed it through the ss tube and gave it a shot or two with a hammer if it would make a nice little flare without deforming the scales. I am planning on using either G10 or Linen Micarta.
