Help! Hollow Grinding!

You just have to stay in the groove. If you can slow your grinder down a little, that might help. Also what size wheel are you using? A bigger wheel is harder to stay in the groove than a smaller wheel. Take your time and use sharp belts. Don't try to stretch those belts.

John, I've got about a 7.5" wheel.

I'll use everyone's suggestions and try again today. Mostly, I'll use a slower speed. I'll post a picture or two when I'm done.

To me it looks like the wheel you bought is the problem also. if the contact surface is not true it will be very hard to grind.

I forgot to post that I ground the next blade... Also HT'ed it (salt-melting blade temp, quenched in 140* canola oil), hand sanded it, scotchbrited it, and now epoxied the handles on. This piece is from Burl Source.

I don't think you'll be disappointed when it's done, at least for my skill improvement.

Know when to step away from the grinder. If your not "feeling it" then take a break and come back later.
Practice.

Best piece of advice so far for me. Sometimes I just can't do anything right, solution; quit for a while and come back later.

Have you finished the knife yet? Pictures if you have...

Yep. Here's a thread about it.

And a pic for the lazy ;)
