hidden tang glue-up fixture

Thought this might help some of you folks out... the general idea that is. It's a fixture (2 of them actually) that I made during school hours to clamp a handle and hidden tang knife together during glue-up.

The blade is clamped down by the ricasso, and the fixture will pivot/slide around until you get the swivel pad bolts lined up to hold the handle together like you want.

Okay, more pictures less talk ;)

Great fixture and workmanship, but thanks for taking the time with the good picture sequence.

Take care, Craig

Nick,

Great looking work, is that hammered paint or powder coating on the fixtures?

Also, on the swivels heads to avoid pressure marks on the end of the handles,
could you not use a felt stick-on furniture slide ? They sell them at most Lowes or Home depots in different diameters.

Just a suggestion,
Jim

Thanks guys :)

Jim, that is an EXCELLENT idea. I was going to use some rubber or leather, but the little pads would be a lot better and could be sized to the bolts. Most of the time the handle will still be in a block form when it goes in here, but those pads would sure work well if it's not.

Oh, and yep... hammered paint. I think this was the rustoleum stuff.

Dozier, I didn't weld these, I just put a whole bunch of JB Weld on there! ;) Seriously though, thank you. :)
