How can I tell from Brass or Beryllium?

I would like to cut this up and use on some future knives but not if it is Beryllium. I have never heard of the stuff but was looking at some old post and saw a thread about Brass not being brass. Any thoughts would be great.

I agree with Chuck here that it looks like a plain old Brass hammer and considering the uses of Beryllium
I don't think any one would make a Mallet out of it.

Also it's good to have a brass Mallet to pound on a few things around the shop.

Just a thought... Beryllium is added to brass, and copper as well as others to improve their rigidity and strength.
