I have wondered what/when/how etc does it take to go from a working self designed folder to having it cut out on a water jet ? How to get it onto the computer in the same working form and all the other parts needed . Whats it cost? Whats all required? Whats the initial investment with materials blade wise and liner wise. Anyone care to share ?

thanks

Dave

Dave,
The one waterjet man I have had the best results with is Jay at http://waterjettech.com/
I make fixed blade knives at least for now, Jay will tell you what you need to do to transfer the info to a Cad design or in my case he did it for me with no set-up charge. just a feed rate based on the rate of cut with the thinckness of steel.

Jay sent several blueprinted images back and forth to me until I was satisfied and now I just tell him what pattern to use and have the steel I want sent http://www.nsm-ny.com/ and Jay goes to work and sends me the finished blanks to my shop.

Jay at waterjettech told me what to do and did for me what I didn't know how.

Give him a call. You will be very happy with his work.
