How would you build a Kukri?

I think this is beyond my skill set right now, but for those that have done so what approach do you take to making this type of knife? I'm thinking it would be difficult to do so without at least some forging.

Just curious for now. Thanks for any info.

Thought I've not attempted one myself, if you were going to make one using strictly stock removal, you'd need to start with a fairly wide piece of stock. I'd guess at least 4" wide or more, depending on how much drop you wanted in the blade, and how big it was overall.

The grinds will likely be the most challenging aspect do the the large recurve of the middle section and belly of the blade at the end.

Thanks for the information ARCustom. That was kind of my thinking as well. It's either the wide stock or do some forging and bend where needed. I don't have a forge so...

It would definitely be a challenging project
