I can't read the maker of this bad boy.

I dug this out of the bottom of my dad's tool box. It's definitely out of my field (trachtenmesser. puukko and other strange knives). The only marking is very worn (shown enclosed). The blade measures 5 3/4 inches long. This is quite utilitarian. Do you recognize that name. Many thanks for your help.

My guess is that this is a WWII-era copy of the "Kabar" military knife made under contract for the US gov't. That particular type of pommel is very similar to Marble knives of the era. Numerous companies made the knives during the war effort.

I think I've got this figured out. IMHO it's a PAL RH-38. Between the “RH” and the “-38” is a circle with “PAL” in it, and beneath that “MADE IN U.S.A.” Enclosed are pictures of what I've found. I'd really appreciate confirmation. And a hearty THANK YOU.
