Indentify this Hatchet

got this from my FIL. he found it while re-wiring an old farm house last year. it was basically a hunk of rust with a loose handle. i cleaned it up as much as i dared. i wanted it to stay as original as possible. didn't want to remove any steel while i was restoring it. i fixed the handle as well. i am sure it is not the original handle, so i wasn't too concerned about it. any info is greatly appreciated. it has what i assume is a maker's mark as well. here are the best shots i could get of it.

There were many of this pattern of Ase/Axe made since ,,, Well the 1600's on I believe, Probably domestic and a common wood hatchet patten.
The CC ? Makers Marks on it may help identify it a bit Further, If you can find a specialist on these brands??

Put a edge on it and use it! That's my .02 cents.

It looks like a wood shingle hatchet, used to split them, I have a slightly bigger one and the blade is offset some to split shingles evenly of the log.
