KNIFE MAKER

Jason Knight inspired. Forged from 1084, maple wood handle with brass pin & lanyard tube, and red liner. Vinegar dipped for 20 minutes, washed with soap water & polished with 0000 steel wool. Followed with 5 coats of cold blue. Total length 7.5".

How durable is the cold blue? Also does it smell crazy bad? I finished an old shotgun barrell about 3 yrs ago and it still smells ridiculous.

Used brown leather dye and lots of 0000 steel wool. Then 5 coats of tung oil. I need to buy stock in steel wool.

I use cold blue creme, after the 5th polishing with steel wool, I wiped it down with windex and followed it with Remington gun oil. Smells a bit like gun oil. Smells good to me. I have done about 10 or 12 of them this way with no complaints. I carried one for 4 months as my EDC looks ok. In better shape than the mirror polished one I carried before it.

Franklin, Thank you. I keep trying to improve. At least the ricaso is square.

Coat the barrel in baking soda and windex paste. Let is sit for at least 30 minutes Then spray it clean with windex and wipe it dry. it will help neutralize the smell.

Sorry for the off topic, Just trying to help.

George,
Very cool little knife, a large patch knife?

Thank you Dogs for all the kind words.

Not sure what to call it. My youngest daugther wants one to use as a boot knife. The middle daughter wants one to carry in her purse or use it as a neck knife. Waiting to see what the oldest one says when she returns from vacation. Its a real problem around here with every new knife I make, they all want them. Would be easier with boys. You just tell them no and they go away. Girls who like knives collect them like any other accessory they have. They NEED one for every occasion even if no one sees it! LOL

One thing about it you won't have to worry about the girls being defenseless! :what!::nothing::biggrin:

George,
I am all for young ladies and older ones for that matter wanting a knife for every outfit. We need to encourage this for two reasons. So all women can defend themselves, and of course, SALES!

So encourage your girls to encourage all of their friends to have a knife for every occasion!
