Large run of Chefs

I'm not the most experienced knifemaker, but here are a few good discussions on stress risers. Basically, it's a place where cracks form more easily due to disturbances in the steel, sharp corners, etc.



 
For those of us who are not experienced knife makers, could you explain what "stress risers" are?

Areas where stress would be concentrated.

Sharp corners and that sort of thing.

If I light the forge today, I'll try to remember to make two parts, one with a radiused corner and one with a sharp corner, harden them, and then see how they break. If I do that, I'll take some pictures and make a new thread and post a link to it here.
