Liner Lock with Micarta

Here's a knife I made for my brother last year that he's been carrying around and abusing for some time now (hence the scratches on the blade and bolsters). I forgot to take any photos of it before I gave it away, but I was able to steel it back from him for a weekend photo shoot. I really need to get around to making that light box for some better photos. . .

I call this design the Guardian. I think a good design need a good name to go with it, don't you? It's kind of gentleman's folder meets tactical. I think it turned out pretty well and the knife feels wonderful in the hand. Here are the specs:

Knife Design: Guardian
Open Length: 7-1/2"
Blade Length: 3-1/16"
Blade: 440C
Bolsters: 416ss
Liner: Anodized Titanium
Spacer: 416ss
Scales: Black Micarta
Embellishments: Hand-rubbed satin finish on bolsters and blade. Fully file-worked blade, spacer, and liners.

I have a knife of this same design on my bench that I'm currently making for my son. He just earned his eagle scout award and I making him a knife to commemorate his achievement. I've been posting WIP pics of my son's knife on my blog at http://robinsonedge.blogspot.com/ Stop by if you would like to have a look and see my process. Thanks for looking and all comments, good or bad, are welcome.

Nice design, I like it. Have you thought about sending it out an engraver to commemorate the Eagle Scout achievement? There's a lot of real estate on the bolsters for engraving. Seems like it would be a good candidate for personalizing it for him.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.

Anthony, I have a good friend here in my home town that has recently taken up engraving, and he's getting really good at his new found art. I have definitely considered having him engrave the bolsters with something commemorative. I have also considered doing some fluting, or even some etching on the bolsters. I need to decide what to do soon since my son will be awarded his eagle in a couple of short weeks. Thanks for the interest.
