Over the last month or so I have been hosting a weekly Knifemaker "chat room" on my website. I've poured over the internet, and have tried just about every "free" chat room software out there. In all cases they either have no customization, or no admin control. Using them has caused me some heartache due to trolls and hackers.
I'm on the hunt for a chat room software that I can use on my site to host our weekly chats. I've looked at a few pieces of software for purchase, but so far they've been a little out of my price range (either $299 or XX per month). I know enough that I maintain my own website, and am willing to learn if I don't know.
The software needs to be customizable, with admin controls that allow silencing, booting, and banning those who can't play by the rules. I've got my web host looking at a particular program right now, but would be happy to hear anybody's thoughts/suggestions on a chat room software that I could use.
