Mailbox delight! pic heavy

An online friend of mine is a BBQ type and asked if I could make him a small trimming type knife. I whipped one up and sent it off to him a few weeks back. He liked it a lot and told me to look for a surprise in the mail soon.

He sent me some "junk wood" that he can't use in his wood shop...

The "junk" is black walnut that he had cut up for a project around 15 years ago he told me. The pics don't do it justice! Pretty stuff, now I need to finish a blade so I can see how it looks on a knife!

What a great score Charlie. I scored some wild olive, red ivory and black ivory planks from my brother not so long ago, he was using it for making a fire to barbecue.
