Makers Mark

A question for my learned friends , are makers marks registered and or how are they protected ? The thought occurred to me and thought the answer could be found here.

As far as I know makers marks are just a home made mark on your blade, no protection what-so-ever. Making this mark very unique is one way to protect it. I sign my name into finger nail polish then etch it onto the blade, while this can still be copied... I feel it makes it a little harder then a stamp or generic mark. Sending a certificate of authenticity with your knives helps as well.

My makers mark is not registered but it IS protected. Just try using it and see what happens!:biggrin:
