hey guys

I got this one finished up today, if i remember right the last time i did a filet knife i decided I wouldnt do another and Im feeling the same way again after this one lol !!

This is a fathers day present for a guy and he told me he wanted about as petty of a filet knife as we could make, hence the HHH Burl. He also wanted something unusual for it so we added a little mammoth ivory.

thanks very much Randy Haas for all the help, it is much appreciated!!!

I am pretty happy with the knife, i dont know of anything right off the bat i would do differently but if anyone has any suggestions let me know. I went with a satin rubbed finish on the blade after having some scratch issue with some recent mirror finishes.

Specs:

440C stainless 1/16" thick 8" long blade, convex ground
Heat Treated, cryo treated and double tempered in house
410 stainless bolsters
white spacers
mammoth ivory
white spacers
HHH Buckeye Burl
mosaic pins
lanyard thong

let me know what ya think and as always any suggestions

Looks great Lerch I bet that was fun to grind- I like the sweep it has and should work well...and that burl is beeutiful.

Thanks guys

Im pretty happy with the knife, it was a pain to grind, i just knew at any minute i would mess up and burn the tip right off of it lol

now its off to Larry Parsons for a leather sheath

thanks
steve

Just one question Lerch?

Since most are right handed the logo goes on the front side while holding the knife in your right hand it is easy to view.

I notice you have your mark on the obverse side? There really isn't anything wrong and I don't think the Makers Mark Police will come after you?

Just curious why you picked the obverse side of the knife?

I mark both sides, left and right. On some of the tactical type knives where i usually put the steel designation i do the makers mark on the left of presentation side or i still do both sides if there is enough room and it doesnt look crowded. On the more "pretty" based knives i do it on both sides and i dont do a steel designation.

Thank ya Travis

Ya Larry is a good guy, i think i have seen a few of your knives in there when i been at his place jawing with him, your knives looked great!! I always love getting to go by Larry's shop and BS with him for a while, not to mention that fresh leather always smells so much better than my shop full of ground off horn and bone!!! lol I only live about 4 blocks away from Larrys house so that is convinent as well

thanks
steve
